Many, many, many years ago an order of the most powerful witches and wizards in the world got together and created an object that contained all their power; it is so powerful, it can perform magic that no other thing can. The witches and wizards perished after making the object, but the object has since provided the world's source of magic. The magic works as a sort of poison, and once it's in one person, it's passed on to their children and so on, with the occasional flukes and duds (muggle-borns and squibs).
It is known as the Relic Moon and is hidden safely in Hogwarts, protected by its magic and by many wizards and witches loooong gone, and others who are still among the living. The Relic Moon can sense any danger its in, and boy, it senses some danger; the place protecting it is acting a bit... moody, because of it.
The Death Eaters are after the Relic Moon; why? The Relic Moon alone has the power to bring back the dead. For real. They want that power to revive Voldemort and once again try to take over the wizarding world; and now that Dumbledore's gone, and Harry Potter isn't in Hogwarts, who's to stop them? The Relic Moon, the school, and the animals know something bad is on the horizon, and though they don't know what, they're prepared to fight. If only humans had those high senses.
